Jesus had twelve disciples following him wherever he went, seeking to replicate his life in their own. Of the twelve, Peter, James, and John benefitted from a higher level of discipleship with their Teacher. We've been seeking to replicate this strategy in our work with students by meeting in "extra small groups." 381 is a behind-the-scenes, higher-level environment for 8th grade students only. Two or three students are paired up with a leader for the school year. Together they work through The Seven Checkpoints Student Journal. Meetings might be weekly or twice a month, but total commitment is crucial, and serious discipleship is the goal. This isn't for every student, but for the highly motivated "faithful, available, teachable" ones.
