Volunteer Information

Volunteer Registration Is Open!

There are a number of opportunities to be involved with Night to Shine. Some are before the prom, some during and some after.

You must be at least 14 years old to volunteer during the prom.

There are clearances needed for most of the roles so please register early if you need to obtain clearances as they can take up to three weeks to process. Clearance information is listed on the registration form.

ALL volunteers must register prior to the event.

We are continuing to maximize the number of guests able to experience the event so we have to limit volunteers to only those specifically needed. Please no walk-ins the night of the event, or tagalongs!

Please arrive on-site by 4:30 p.m.

Volunteer Training

Training for all volunteers will be available.

Thursday, January 30: 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, February 2: 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

This will give volunteers an opportunity to meet other volunteers who will be serving together on the night, see the layout of the church for the prom and ask questions prior to the event.

Volunteer Positions

Buddies: are our biggest need and where you as a volunteer will experience the most of the prom. They provide 1:1 companionship and support for the guest to enable them to have the best experience of the night. We will provide opportunities for training prior to the event and assistance on the night. Buddies will be matched on the night to a guest of the same sex (where possible) and a similar age. We take into consideration any previous experience you have with working with people with special needs. If you know a specific guest and would like to be their buddy there is a space to put the guest’s name on the registration form.

Paparazzi and Dance Floor: are the volunteers who help create the party atmosphere and encouragement for guests and keep the party going for all!

Hospitality: is for those volunteers who are outgoing and comfortable greeting and directing the guests and buddies around the prom. They will be working in one setting/room for the night aiding the flow of people in and out of that area throughout the event.

Food Service: is for the volunteers who are interested in serving, clearing and keeping the dining areas clean and accessible.

Decorating Team: is for the volunteers who have time before the event to plan, prepare and set up the décor for the whole event.

Set up – Thursday: is for individuals or groups who want to volunteer to help set up the décor and activities for the event. This happens on Thursday 6th February from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Clearances are not needed for this role.

Office Administration: is for individuals with daytime availability for the weeks running up to the event. These volunteers help with PR, marketing and registration. Clearances are not needed for this role.

Tear down – Friday: is for the individuals who want the party to never end but also want the church to be ready for Sunday! Also for those individuals who can’t make the whole event but still want to be part of the Night to Shine. Volunteers arrive by 9pm and will be done by 11pm. They help finish clearing and furniture moving ready for Sunday services.
